Like all of Wisconsin, I am still in shock at Brett Favre's announcement that he is retiring. I think all of us who watched him all these wonderful years consider ourselves very fortunate to have lived at this period of Green Bay football history.
Over the past day I have been having flashbacks of a great career. The first touchdown pass in Super Bowl XXXI to Andre Rison. He threw it and then, like a bowler watching his shot go down the alley, he did a little fade, his eyes glued to the ball.
His ongoing feud with aptly named Warren Sapp, #99 of Tampa Bay over the years -- Brett never backed down, ever.
His ability to spread the ball around to all his receivers over the years.
The interceptions. Oh those head-shaking interceptions that we all were quick to be angered by and even quicker to forgive because we knew he would come right back and make the next one work wonders.
THE GAME: Green Bay vs Oakland the night after Big Irv died. None of us will ever forget that game. I wish they would put that game out on DVD in its entirety.
Those terrible blood-letting feuds in the Metrodome. sometimes Brett would win, sometimes lose; they were always slug fests.
I have been reading a lot of blogs since Brett decided to retire and one thing is for certain. There is no middle ground with Brett Favre. You either love him or you really hate him.
I don't think there is a Cheesehead alive that falls in the second category.
