It didn't take King George long did it?
Wasn't it old Mr. Decider himself that said he would hold accountable anyone involved in the Valerie Plame leak case? Guess what? The King's word, obviously, is not to be believed.
What's really disturbing is that any thinking American with a conscience already knew that.
So now what? So now, nothing. I would be very surprised if our DO NOTHING congress did anything about Bush's commuting Scooter Libby's prison sentence. After all, it IS the King's prerogative, by Consitutional law, to pardon whomever he pleases.
And the sentence (two and a half years) according to Mr. Bush, was excessive. Two and a half years for treason -- yeh, that's pretty damn excessive. What kind of sentence do you think you or I would get if we committed treason?
I am extremely disenchanted -- hell! I am downright angry with this mockery of justice. All of us should be. I e mailed a friend in Milwaukee this morning and she gave me good, calm advice. First of all, don't internalize it.
Second, do what you can about it. My friend told me that Americans are too stressed about their own bills to think about government.
Last night, she wrote, Keith Olberman of MSNBC said to just keep the White House bombarded with calls and e mails -- tie them up!! But do something.
She went on to write that it is time for the mother of all marches on Washington DC and in communities all across this nation.
"Where are the candy-assed kids?" she asked.
"Oh, it would be all like totally way too hard, Mom. won't you do it for me? And while you're marching in your designer protest oufit, can I drunk drive your Hummer and run over a career professor at my college?"
She went on: "It looks like we Boomers are going to have to do it for their sorry little asses."
But as was stated earlier, we are all way too stressed about our ever-mounting credit card debt to get involved. We -- all of us -- are really pathetic to let what is happening at this point in our history go unchallenged. If half as much scrutiny was set in motion upon the Bush administration's breaking of Constiutional law as was spent on the Bill Clinton impeachment proceedings, we might finally be turning the corner on the darkness that is covering this land.
And listen to what the politicians have to say about it:
"After evaluating the facts, the president came to a reasonable decision and I believe the decision was correct."
- former New York Mayor Rudy Giulliani
"While for a long time I have urged a pardon for Scooter, I respect the president's decision. This will allow a good American, who has done a lot for his country, to resume his life."
- Former Senator Fred Thompson
"President Bush did the right thing today in commuting the prison term for Scooter Libby. The prison sentence was overly harsh and the punishment did not fit the crime."
- House Republican Whip Roy Blount of Missouri
Those are all Republicans. And I say, Good! Keep talking that trash and come November '08, it will be hit the road, Jack! And take those nutless Democrats with you. THE REVOLUTION STARTS NOW!
Please call and write your senators and congressmen. I did this morning. If you truly consider yourself patriotic on this coming Independence Day, let it shine!
